RESPECT ALL PEOPLE: ALL HUMAN LIFE IS IMPORTANT

Welcome to planet earth, where the inhabitants tend to put value on a life depending on the social, economic and educational status of the life’s owner (the person). What a wonderful world where we regard the other as useless because their ‘miserable’ positions are not on par with those we occupy!

One of the problems facing our communities right now is the inadequacy in understanding and accepting the binarism of life. Things are always different (I choose not to use the word opposite) from each other and that is normal; that is how the universe is, and there is no problem with that.

One has to be poor for the other to be rich. One has to be educated for the other to be uneducated. One has to be the general manager for the other to be a cleaner. For my shoe to be repaired, I need a cobbler. This clearly shows that we all are different. For you to be who you are, I have to be who I am.

“In this age, what the human race does not need or miss is a person who disregards the importance of others based on feeble grounds.”

However, the problem is that we tend to place value on the life of the other depending on these differences. We tend to respect a life depending on the status the owner has in the society and the world at large. Any person in their right senses knows that doing so is erratic for all human life is precious. You do not have to look down on the other person because their standing in a certain space is lower than yours. Why? Because you cannot do what the cleaner does when you are a general manager. Both of you need each other.

By now, I guess what I intend to tell you is as clear as the water in heaven. No life is more precious than the other! We are all on earth for a reason. We are different for a reason. The fact that one is educated is not and should never be a reason why the uneducated has to be looked at as inferior and unimportant. It is not for no reason that God made one more intelligent and the other less intelligent. All are important!

Having reached this far, it is only proper to say that if you disrespect other people because you occupy a certain stand that they do not, you need to check yourself for that is not the way a normal and reasonable human being has to act. Respect the different other. Respect thy neighbor! No man is an island, you have probably heard this a thousand times but do you really know what it means?

“Statuses do not make you precious, your life does, and if we are all alive, we are equally important.”

Next time you disrespect the other person because you are rich, educated or you are on top of the hierarchical positions at work, just know that it is your life that is unimportant. In this age, what the human race does not need or miss is a person who disregards the importance of others based on feeble grounds. You came with nothing on earth, know that.Is it not straight illogical to say that you do not need the other person and at the same time also not be able to do what they can do? Would you not do it all by yourself if you were that important?

Say you are a teacher, how in God’s name should people call you that when there are no learners? Your prominence as a teacher comes because there are learners. You cannot disrespect them when you really need them for your standing. We all need each other, which is one fact that even the ‘most powerful’ person on earth cannot change.

So brethren, never again should you look down on thy neighbor. All  human life is important. Statuses do not make you precious, your life does, and if we are all alive, we are equally important. It is because you cannot build a house that you need a builder, does that not make them important? So RESPECT ALL PEOPLE for ALL HUMAN LIFE IS IMPORTANT!

That’s it, Really.
