Red Heart Diaries: The Lover’s Song

image

Love you passionately I will,

As a house lizard loves the wall.

Like fish stays in water,

In my heart you shall bide forevermore —

For you are the onliest lady I’m gone on,

The Michelle to my Obama.

And so I sing for you a melody,

Trying to tug at your heartstrings.

The sky you are, and I, a cloud,

Derelict am I in your absence.

You are the sun to my moon,

Not once can I scintillate without you.

Till you came and made it complete,

This heart was an unraveled puzzle.

And so I sing for you a melody,

Trying to pull at your heartstrings.

The fourth installment in Red Heart Diaries. Having shared four poems, I’ll pause for a while.

That’s it, Really.

Red Heart Diaries: The Transformation

image

What power have you?

That begets the rebirth of I.

Ne’er earlier did I know you,

Now like my name you are.

Used not to think about you,

Now my mind is your abode.

Needed you not before,

Now you are a water driblet in a desert.

Ne’er before did I miss you,

Now habituated am I to being with you.

Used to believe not in the abstract,

Now isn’t it love adoration I champion?

Nonexistent was this smile before you,

Now I raiment it like my favorite regalia.

What power have you?

That remoulds the forlorn version of I.

Third poem from Red Heart Diaries. The series continues next Thursday with the fourth poem, ‘The Lover’s Song’.

Born For Greatness Quotes: Quote 1

Maybe you might find my words useful, so I present to you Born For Greatness Quotes, a series of motivational/inspirational quotes from my works to be shared every Sunday. I’ve just thought of doing this now, literally…yes, really, just now.

image

the quote as posted on Instagram

“If there’s dryness in your life struggle hard to see the dark cloud…then sit back and relax, very soon it’ll rain”

*****

This quote is from ‘Born For Greatness’, my 2012 poem that I turned into a song in 2014 (and it is from that very song that I derive the name of this series). You can google ‘TyphusBars’ to stream and/or download the song on SoundCloud and on other music websites.

Thats it, Really.

Red Heart Diaries: The First Kiss

image

Red Heart Diaries: Falling

Our lips caressed and it felt right,

When my tongue tasted yours, I felt light,

As if this body was surging into the clear sky,

And in magic I believed, never anew to label it a lie.

Red Heart Diaries: Falling

image

With the protectiveness

Of a ghetto tortoise, I inexorably

Warded my lush heart, till from heaven you

Unexpectedly flew down, unthawing my carapace

Now anew I am falling,

S l o w l y and s w i f t l y,

Like a wide leaf departing from a stem,

Again with gaeity is my being suddenly filled,

Like a hungry ant on the mouth of a cup of honey,

For from this destruction is born the greatest of love.

*****

This is the genesis of my Red Heart Diaries, a series of love poems I’ve been crafting lately.

That’s it, Really.

Black Excellence

Dripping with melanin like a waterfall,

Is this magnificence that is my skin,

Thick are its layers as is my soul,

The verticality of my hair matches my values,

The deep beauty that is my eye colour,

Marries the earth on which I stand.

RESPECT ALL PEOPLE: ALL HUMAN LIFE IS IMPORTANT

image

Welcome to planet earth, where the inhabitants tend to put value on a life depending on the social, economic and educational status of the life’s owner (the person). What a wonderful world where we regard the other as useless because their ‘miserable’ positions are not on par with those we occupy!

One of the problems facing our communities right now is the inadequacy in understanding and accepting the binarism of life. Things are always different (I choose not to use the word opposite) from each other and that is normal; that is how the universe is, and there is no problem with that.

One has to be poor for the other to be rich. One has to be educated for the other to be uneducated. One has to be the general manager for the other to be a cleaner. For my shoe to be repaired, I need a cobbler. This clearly shows that we all are different. For you to be who you are, I have to be who I am.

“In this age, what the human race does not need or miss is a person who disregards the importance of others based on feeble grounds.”

Bloodsuckers!

image

They diligently crown you with a Bible of juicy names,

Deceivingly flooding you with relentless eulogies,

Their words, in companionship with their sedulous smirks,

Channel into your heart, awakening gaeity and pride…

A 4-line excerpt from the first stanza of the longest poem I’ve ever penned! I’ll post the whole poem later.

That’s it, really.

The Blue Sky Tag

A huge ‘thank you’ to Sanchali for considering me for this tag here! This is my first tag so I’m very excited like an ant on the mouth of a cup of honey.

  3. Answer the 11 questions given to you

Answers To Sanchali’s Questions

• How do you describe yourself?

I’m an open person. I try to be as honest as possible. I keep my circle small. I love going out, a lot. I laugh a lot. I forgive easily if I sense some honesty in a person. I cut off people quickly. I have some trust issues. I love to be childish in company of close friends and my family. I love the current version of Victor and couldn’t ask for anything. I take time to look good. I say how I feel. Can go on and on but that’s it. Oh, and I have a good memory.

• Are you scared of heights?

No.

• If you could be an animal what animal would you be?

Lion.

•  What places have you travelled and want to travel ?

Guess this is about ‘going abroad’…a thing I’ve never done but plan to start doing once I finish my college education this year. And Detroit is my current travel aspiration.

• What is your overall goal in life?

To inspire and motivate people through the life I live.

• Would you like to be famous?

Yes! Lol.

Not one I recall of.

• Are you a dog person or a cat person?

Both. My love for both animals is great.

• Are you an introvert or an extrovert?
